Robert L. Backman Legacy Endowment

Shh…don’t tell Bob.

We hope to surprise him when we reach our goal.

The Backman Family wants to honor Elder Backman and his lifetime of service and giving. To do so, we would like to establish a fund at the J. Reuben Clark (BYU) Law School known as the Robert L. Backman Legacy Endowment.  The Endowment will help fund student scholarships or a professorship at the law school.

How You Can Help

For the establishment of this fund, we hope to raise $200,000 and invite you to contribute at the level of one of the following categories. Up to four persons can combine gifts in a bundled donation to reach the target level:

  • $10,000—Anchor donors
  • $5,000
  • $2,500
  • $1,000
  • $500

Donations are acceptable any time including pledges for future giving. We hope to reach our target endowment amount (through your generous donations and pledges) by summer 2014.

Donors at each of these levels will be included in an announcement listing key donors and will receive a CD containing Bob’s Oral History interview (350 pages) completed when he became an emeritus general authority in 1992.

Please send this URL (rlbackman.wordpress.com) to others that might wish to honor Elder Backman. Also, we invite you to send any additional materials, articles, pictures or memories you might have about Elder Backman to backman.endowment@gmail.com and we will include them on this site for others to read. Thank you in advance for your contributions.
